RETRO ‘70s STYLE
“HOW TO INJECT SOME OF THE LATEST RETRO ‘70s STYLE TRENDS, INTO YOUR WARDROBE THIS SEASON”
Spring 2021 fashion trends are all about retro '70s style.
From flared pants and bell sleeves, we can't get enough of the vibrant elements of the iconic '70s fashion era.
The '70s were known for being vibrant and bold, especially when it comes to fashion. We outline some of our favourite key trends to get the look this season.
FLARED PANTS
For a fresh silhouette, update your pants or jeans with a pair of high waisted flares.
Flared pants are generally tighter around the thigh and become wider from the knee down.
Flares can be as subtle or extreme as you wish, depending on how wide you choose.
Traditionally flared pants give the illusion of long legs therefore are flattering to most body types.
This seasons key flared trends are light wash or dark denim flares, split seam opening at the bottom of the flare, floor sweeping flares and cropped flares.
BELL SLEEVES
On the runway, wide bell sleeves are a key trend making a huge comeback this season.
From jumpers to dresses, shirts to tops, everything this season has a feminine and fun bell sleeve.
Make a statement by adding a bell sleeve…dramatic bell sleeve tops are flattering to any body shape. The voluminous fabric at the wrists, balances out the arms and makes them look slimmer.
RELAXED TAILORED SUITING
The tailored suit historically has given off corporate vibes. Sleek new relaxed tailoring is giving a modern twist to a timeless classic.
This season we are seeing blurred lines between clothing that was previously deemed "masculine" or "feminine".
This season, look out for chic, effortless and relaxed tailoring. Oversized blazers and loose fit trouser. Try a bright neon colour suit, a pastel suit or a fun loud pattern suit.
A suit has always been an investment piece… The pieces can be worn together or as separates providing endless options.
GROOVY PRINTS
Prints in the '70s were loud and proud, often contrasting but visually appealing.
Groovy prints to look out for are exaggerated florals, gingham, circular, polka dots, abstract motifs, zebra print and stripes.
Be creative by mixing prints to get the look.
HALTER NECK
The halter neck is one of the most fun and flirty silhouettes. Choose from a dress or top version.
The halter neck pairs perfectly with '70s style bell bottom pants or jeans, or a mini skirt and platform knee high boots.
WRAP DRESSES
To get the look this season, look no further than the classic sexy '70s style wrap dress.
The wrap dress silhouette is figure flattering to all body shapes.
Team your dress back with a heel for a more elevated look, or back with a sneaker & sandal for a cool casual look.
OVERSIZED SUNGLASSES
It's time to bring back larger than life oversized shades.
This season is all about '70s retro inspired shades.
Key trends are big frames, lightly tinted coloured lenses, sporty aviators, round, rectangular and cat eye frames.
HEADSCARVES
The head scarf accessory is a huge trend we are seeing all over the runway this season. No '70s inspired outfit is complete without a hippie silk head Scarf. This season there is no excuse for a bad hair day.
Have fun with bold colours and loud patterns this season.
