THE KNITWEAR TREND FOR WINTER 2020
"What's the latest in Knitwear trends for the season?"
Freshen up your winter wardrobe with some comfy, cosy knitwear. This winter the runways were flooded with stylish knits, delivering a modern take on everything from the jumpers, dresses to vests.
We have taken the stress out of finding the new season knitwear trends that everyone will be wearing this winter.
Jumper:
This season, knitwear trends feature chunky yarns, cables, bobbles, statement sleeves, warming turtle necks, roll necks and the traditionally “ugly” Fair Isle knit patterns with multiple colours.
Jumper colour trends are largely mustard yellows, rusty brick oranges, smoky blues, dusty pinks, greys and beige. We have also seen a revival of neon, in shades of lime, lemon, tangerine and fuchsia.
The statement sleeve trends are puffy, super long and frill trimmed. When wearing a jumper with voluminous sleeves keep the rest of your outfit simple, making the jumper the accent piece.
Jumper dresses:
Jumper dresses come in a variety of shapes, textures and patterns. We are seeing figure hugging ribbed body con dresses. You may prefer a more classic midi length cashmere dress, that you can cinch in at the waist to giving it shape. We are loving the comfort of the oversized slouchy knitted dresses that are so easy to wear. Team it back with boots, tights or even over pants.. for a more dramatic layered look.
Sleeveless Knits:
Who would have ever thought the sleeveless knit vest could be considered a fashion statement. Some of our favourites are stripes, solid colours and prints. The knitted vest is versatile and chic style to look out for this winter.
Cardigans:
The cardigan, like the vest trend, has been another surprising trend of the season. We are loving this granny chic trend. The cardigan is a a great casual alternative to a jumper. The cardigan is not dissimilar to a jumper, other than it is open in the front and done up with buttons.Cardigan trends are elegant with defined belted waistlines, oversized, embellished and cropped.
Poncho:
Ponchos are not only comfortable to wear, but are also super stylish. A poncho consists of a long piece of material, in wool... with a hole cut in the centre of the fabric for you to put your head through or to wrap around your body. The poncho is luxurious yet cozy. This season's designs include asymmetrical hemlines, oversized shapes, textures and embellishments, like fringes, zips, and buttons.
Co-ord:
Stylish co-ord knitwear is one of our new favourite winter trends. Co-ords are fabulous because they take the stress out of putting together an outfit.Knitted top to toe looks are stylish and cosy. Styles we are seeing are tops with matching trousers or skirts, and dresses. We love seeing knitted co-ords being used in luxury loungewear and pyjamas.
